A makeshift explosive device was found near an entrance way to the Ukrainian presidential administration building, UNIAN agency reports. A security source quoted by Reuters said the very powerful device contained five grenades and a kilogram of metal screws. Ukraine’s president, Petro Poroshenko, who won the May 25th election, was sworn in last week. He declared Sunday a day of national mourning after 49 Ukrainians died when their military transport plane was shot down by pro-Russian insurgents.
In Afghanistan polling stations have been closed in the presidential elections which, according to the BBC, unfolded amid tight security checks. According to the government, 150 incidents were reported. The choice was between former Foreign Minister Abdullah Abdullah and ex-World Bank economist Ashraf Ghani. The final vote count will be announced towards the end of July.
