For the past few years summer has been synonymous with music, as an impressive number of music festivals, suiting all tastes, have been being held in Romania. Neversea, on the Black Sea coast, UNTOLD, in Cluj Napoca, Electric Castle at the heart of Transylvania and the Open Air Blues Festival in Brezoi, a town in the Western Carpathians, are some of them. The famous UNTOLD festival came to an end on Sunday. Over 100 thousand people took part in the concerts held on the last night of the festival. It was a pop concert and not an electronic music concert, as it was the case at previous editions, that draw the largest audience.



Cluj Arena, where the main stage was located, proved to be too small for the huge crowds that came to see Robbie Williams perform. The singer had a big surprise for his fans, as he sang one of his songs together with his father. Music lovers from more than 100 countries came to Cluj to see the performance of the over 200 artists who performed on the 10 stages of the festival. The event had a budget of almost 14 million Euros. Over 1,500 sqm of LED screens were set up and more than 30 trucks brought stage props for the festival, as UNTOLD is known for both the quality of music provided by the world’s best DJs and for the laser lighting displays. The festival’s main attractions were Robbie Williams’ concert, and Armin van Buuren’s show. Also, Martin Garrix returned on the main stage while David Guetta also came back to Cluj Napoca for the anniversary edition of the UNTOLD Festival, with a spectacular show. The first edition of UNTOLD took place in 2015 when the city of Cluj Napoca was designated European Youth Capital. Following the success it enjoyed, the festival was granted the Best Major Festival award at the European Festival Awards hosted by the Netherlands.



Visitors of the Black Sea coast also had the opportunity to attend several different music festivals, such as Out of Doors Fest in Costinesti or One! Festival in Constanta. Going to western Romania, the music festival held at the Mocioni castle in Arad, celebrated the hippie movement and offered the audience two unforgettable days, in an unique “flower power” atmosphere.
