Made up of vocalist Calin Goia, drummer Oliver Sterian, bass-player Valeriu Ionescu, guitarist Gabi Constantin and Adrian Cristescu on keyboards, the band Voltaj has been selected to represent Romania in the Eurovision song contest, to be hosted by Vienna. In a show broadcast on Sunday evening on the public television station. Voltaj got the maximum number of votes from both the public and the jury. Their song, “All over again”, sends out a powerful message, as it talks about Romanians who seek better jobs abroad and work from dawn till dusk to make a better life for their children. In fact, the song comes attached to a large-scale awareness-raising campaign devoted to such children, aimed at familiarizing Europe with the hardships endured by hard-working, honest Romanians.
Once the results were announced, vocalist Calin Goia said the band intended to actually win the Eurovision song contest, since Romania only ranked 3rd and 4th in previous editions. The band has already prepared an English version for this song and will have to decide which of the two versions they will be performing in Vienna. “All over again” is already a regular listen on radio stations and has even been nominated in the 13th edition of the Radio Romania Awards Gala, which on March 22nd will reward the best pop-rock song, the best message, the song of the year, the best pop-rock artist and the artist of the year.
