Let's learn how to make introductions in Romanian!

First, let’s go over some of the words we are going to use.
hello – salut or buna
who – cine
to be – a fi
man – barbat
woman – femeie
wife – sotie
husband – sot
friend – prieten for male, or prietena for female
girlfriend – prietena
boyfriend – prieten
Note that in Romanian, the word for female friend is the same as the word for girlfriend.
The same is true for boyfriend and male friend.

Ma numesc… or Ma cheama…
This is…
El este… for male, and Ea este… for female
My husband
Sotul meu
My wife
Sotia mea
My boyfriend
Prietenul meu
My girlfriend
Prietena mea
My friend
Prietenul meu for male, and Prietena mea for female

– Hi, Andrei! This is my best friend.
– Salut, Andrei! Ea este prietena mea cea mai buna.
– What is your name?
– Cum te cheama?
– My name is Raluca. Nice to meet you!
– Ma cheama Raluca. Incantata de cunostinta!
– I have to go. I’m meeting some friends in ten minutes.
– Trebuie sa plec. Ma intalnesc cu niste prieteni in zece minute.
