The two feast days are accompanied by many rituals, including the preparation of special dishes. One traditional dish usually prepared on the Feast of the Epiphany is meat jelly.
For a lighter diet, cooked wheat is another traditional dish commonly associated with the Epiphany. The boiled wheat can be served as a main course in combination with vegetables or as a dessert, in combination with pumpkin and sunflower seeds, raisins and honey. This week we will give you the recipe for roasted turkey legs with wine gravy.
Turkey meat has become increasingly popular in Romania in recent years, due to its low cholesterol level. The first thing you need to do is season the turkey drumsticks with thyme and a pinch of pepper and leave them to marinate in a roasting pan. Add some red wine, two bay leaves, a few garlic cloves and some peppercorns. Leave the turkey drumsticks to marinate for about 3 hours, turning them from time to time so that all sides are coated. Before putting the pan in the oven, add two sliced onions and two apples. Cook for two hours at medium heat. From time to time, spoonthe juices from the bottom of the pan over the chicken to keep the roast moist. You an also add potatoes to the pan to serve as side dish. Serve with a glass of semi-dry red wine.
Enjoy!
