where the Romanian national side ended in a 29-all draw the game they played on
Wednesday against Germany during their training campaign in Hungary. The best
Romanian scorer was Cristina Neagu with 11 goals scored. The match was
Romania’s last test before the European Championships due to kick off in
Slovenia, Montenegro and North Macedonia on Friday.
The Romanian men’s basketball side SCM ”U” Craiova has
qualified for the second stage of FIBA Europe Cup. On Wednesday in Ploiesti,
southern Romania, SCM secured a 74-60 win against the other Romanian side in
Group H, CSO Voluntari. SCM has so far won all the four games they have played
in FIBA Europe Cup and a new win would secure their first position in the
group. In the other game of group H, German side Merlins Crailsheim obtained a
95-64 win against Norrkoping Dolphins of Sweden.
Also in FIBA Europe Cup, in group E, CSM CSU Oradea clinched
a 77-69 home win against French side Cholet Basket. This has been CSM’s third win
in a row after a bad start against the French. Also on Wednesday, Belgian side
Kangoeroes Mechelen obtained a home win against Bulgarian team Rilski Sportist
Samokov, 105 – 74. Oradea and Mechelen are heading the group, each with 7
points being followed by Cholet with 6 and Samokov with 4.
In EuroCup, Group A, U-BT Cluj-Napoca has been
outperformed by Lithuanian side Lietkabelis Panevėžys, 89-84. This has been the
Romanian’s second defeat in a row and their third in this EuroCup season. With
a win and three defeats, Cluj ranks ninth in the group, which is the last but
one position.
