In Group C, Romanian
champions CFR Cluj lost 3-0 to Sivasspor of Turkey away from home. Mustapha
Yatabare scored a double on minutes 22 and 73, while Rangelo Janga scored a
self-goal on minute 64. Sivasspor is top of the group tables with 10 points,
followed by CFR Cluj and Slavia Prague, each with 7 points, although CFR has a
better standing in direct matches with Slavia. Ballkani of Kosovo is bottom of
the tables with 4 points. Next Thursday will decide if Slavia or CFR advance to
the next phase. Slavia is playing Sivasspor at home, while CFR will take on
Ballkani, also on home turf.
This weekend will see
matches counting towards the 16th round of the Romanian Football
Superleague. On Friday, Chindia Tărgovişte is playing FC Botoşani, while FC U
Craiova will take on Farul Constanţa. On Saturday, Petrolul Ploieşti will face
FC Voluntari, while Sepsi Sfântu Gheorghe will play Universitatea Craiova at
home. On Sunday, in Arad, UTA will go up against FC Argeş, while Rapid
Bucharest will play CFR Cluj at home. On Monday, CS Mioveni will play FC
Hermannstadt, while Universitatea Cluj will play FCSB. Farul Constanța tops the
league tables with 34 points, followed by Rapid Bucharest with 29 points. (VP)
