Romanian men’s handball team Dinamo Bucharest on Wednesday secured a 35-34 win in the game against Swiss contenders Wacker Thun. Hosted by Romania’s capital city Bucharest, the match counted towards Champions League’s Group D. Dinamo’s Tunisian handballer Amine Bannour was the top scorer of the game, with 9 goals on his record sheet. Polish team Orlen Wisla Plock are at the top of the table in group D, with 4 points out of two games played. Second-placed are Dinamo, also with 4 points won in 3 matches. Fixtures counting towards Romanian Cup in football’s round of 32 were played on Wednesday. Romanian champions CFR Cluj grabbed a 1-nil win against third-league challengers Chindia Targoviste. In a League One confrontation, Viitorul Constanta secured a 3-nil away win against Concordia Chiajna. In Arad, western Romania, Poli Iasi grabbed a 5-2 win against 3rd-league team UTA Arad. The score was 2-all after regular time ; the end of extra time saw another draw, 3-all this time, while Viitorul’s win occurred after the penalty shootouts.
Young footballer Virgiliu Postolachi, who is 18 and was born in the Republic of Moldova, on Tuesday was granted Romanian citizenship, according to a message posted by the Romanian Embassy in Paris on its Facebook page and quoted by Agerpress news agency.
Postolachi is currently signed up by French champions PSG. Postolachi has so far played 6 matches for PSG in the Youth League’s previous season, scoring 2 goals. His record includes two French champion titles in the under-17 juniors category. In the summer Postolachi joined PSG’s first team for regular training sessions, in the absence of the star footballers who played in the World Cup and who had an extended vacation.
Having been granted Romanian citizenship, Postolachi will be entitled to be officially summoned for Romania’s national teams.
