The last but one stage of the 2021 Dakar Rally was held in Saudi Arabia on Thursday. In the motorcycle competition, the Romanian Emanuel Gyenes, ended on the 29th position. In the Malle Moto section, the one in which the drivers do not benefit from technical assistance, Gyenes came out second. The Romanian driver from Satu Mare ranks 25th in the general standings, while in the Malle Moto and the Marathon sections he comes second.
Games counting towards the 16th leg of Romania’ football championship have been held this week. On Thursday, FC Argeș defeated FC Botoșani 1-nil, while CFR Cluj secured a 3-1 win, at home, against Academica Clinceni. On Friday, the last two games of the leg are held: UTA Arad against Viitorul Constanța and FCSB against Astra Giurgiu.
From Saturday to Monday, matches counting towards the 17th leg are held. The first one, on Saturday, sees Dinamo Bucharest against Chindia Targoviste. On Sunday, FC Argeș plays Gaz Metan Mediaș, Sepsi Sfântu Gheorghe plays CFR Cluj and Academica Clinceni is up against FC Hermannstadt. On Monday, Politehnica Iași will face, on home turf, FC Botoșani while Astra will be up against Universitatea Craiova, in Gurgiu. The last two games of the 17th leg are scheduled for Tuesday, when FC Voluntari plays against UTA Arad and Viitorul Constanța against FCSB. FCSB tops the table with 34 points.
A number of matches part of the in European handball competitions are taking place this weekend. On Saturday, in the Champions League’s group A, CSM Bucharest is up against Vipers Kristiansand. On Sunday, in Group B, CSM Râmnicu Vâlcea will play away from home in Podravka Koprivnica while on Sunday, in Group D, Dunarea Brăila plays in Kuban, Russia.
