Dinamo Bucharest men’s handball team scored another victory in the Champions League, Group A. The Romanian champions defeated, on Thursday, the Polish team Wisla Plock away from home, 28 to 26. The most effective scorers of Dinamo team were the Egyptians Mohamed Mamdouh and Ali Zein, each with five goals. The Algerian goalkeeper Khalifa Ghedbane saved 12 shots, recording a 32% ball save percentage. The Romanian team climbed to the 4th place in the group, with 9 points. Paris Saint-Germain, Veszprém and Magdeburg are on the first three places. Dinamo will play their next match on December 8, at home, against PPD Zagreb, who ranks 7th in the group standings.
In the womens handball Champions League, a Romanian-Hungarian double match takes place this weekend. On Saturday, in Group B, Rapid Bucharest plays away from home with Győr. The Hungarian team leads the group standings with 10 points. Rapid is on second place, also with 10 points, but with a lower goal average. On Sunday, CSM Bucharest faces Ferencvàros at home, in Group A. The Romanian team is on 3rd place in the group, with 9 points, and the team from Budapest, on 4th place, with 7 points.
Let’s move on to rugby. On Saturday, Știința Baia Mare and Steaua Bucharest will meet in the final of the National League. In the semifinals, last Sunday, the players from Știința Baia Mare defeated SCM USV Timișoara, 11 to 9, and Steaua defeated Dinamo, 25 to 18 in Bucharest. The final is scheduled at the Arch de Triumf Stadium in Bucharest.
The weekend will see matches counting for the Romanian Football Superliga, the 19th stage. On Friday, two matches are scheduled: UTA Arad with Sepsi Sfântu Gheorghe and Petrolul Ploiesti with Universitatea Cluj. On Saturday, Hermannstadt will play Voluntari, then, the Craiova derby will take place, between Universitatea Craiova and FC U. On Sunday, Farul Constanţa will face FC Botoşani at home, then CFR will receive, in Cluj, Chindia Târgovişte, after which FC Argeş will play, in Pitesti, with Rapid Bucharest. The last match of the stage is due on Monday: FCSB with Mioveni. In the ranking, Farul is on first place, with 41 points. CFR follows with 37 points, and Rapid with 33. (LS)
