FRECH OPEN UPDATE Romanian tennis player Simona Halep, number 4 in the world, was defeated in Saturdays French Open final by Latvian Jelena Ostapenko, in three sets, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3. This is the first title for the 20-year-old Ostapenko. For the third seed, Simona Halep, aged 25, this is the second French Open final that she lost, after the 2014 final against Maria Sharapova. Victory on Saturday would have seen the 25-year-old Romanian replace Angelique Kerber as world number one.
