Businessman Elon Musk was designated "Personality of the Year 2024 on RRI"

Dear friends, Radio Romania International continued its traditional survey among listeners and users of the Internet and social media to decide which of the personalities from different fields had the most positive impact on the world in 2024. We have received fewer proposals from you compared to other years, and these were extremely fragmented and polarized, most likely a reflection of the realities of 2024, a year full of political, social, economic and climatic crises and with increasingly polarized opinions at global level.
“Personality of the Year 2024 on RRI” was designated businessman Elon Musk. David Iurescia, from Argentina, argued the proposal as follows: «My vote for the Personality of the Year 2024 goes to the American Elon Musk, for his advances in the world of technology, such as the Neuralink chip, which allows a quadriplegic person to use a computer; and all the breakthroughs achieved with his company Space X, which bring ever closer the prospects of returning to the moon and landing on Mars».
In the preferences of RRI listeners and users, Elon Musk was followed by Donald Trump, the winner of a second term as president of the USA, and by the president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky.
The other proposals coming from our listeners include Pope Francis, the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, the President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola, the new NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, the former European Commissioner for Internal Affairs Ylva Johansson, the acting president of Romania, Klaus Iohannis and the president of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu.
The winners of the Nobel Prize in Physics , of the Peace Nobel Price, the victims of climage change, the founder of Telegram, Pavel Durov and Gisèle Pélicot, the victim of the horrible rapes in Mazan, were also proposed.
Among the athletes, the former great tennis champion Rafael Nadal, the Olympic swimming champion, the Romanian David Popovici or the multiple laureate in gymnastics, the American Simone Biles, were proposed. A special nomination came for the Paris Summer Olympics as a whole. (MI)
