This Week…in Your Letters

I have sent in 3 reception reports via your online form, but I’m not sure if you have gotten them or not because I have not received any QSL. Therefore, I am going to submit a report from today via the email. I listened today, March 9 2016, at 21:00 UTC on 7.310 kHz. The signal today was very poor compared to normal, only getting as high as S3 with lots of noise and interference. The show started with the ‘chimes’ at 21:26 and I listened until I could no longer make out the dialog due to noise, which was until approx 21:50 UTC. The news was read in the beginning and there was talk of a meeting with a meeting in Brussels with a NATO Secretary General. At one point, I could make out that there was a talk about security and information gathered and how it was allowed to be used. Noise was very high, so it was very hard to understand. I also understood at the beginning of the show, that it was a rainy day in Bucharest. I received the signal in Richmond, Virginia USA, and I listened on an Alinco DX-SR8T ham radio transceiver with a simple 40-meter dipole antenna hung in my closet. Conditions were poor, lots of noise, and fade in/out. Signal low at S2-3

“I am enclosing a reception report for the month off March 2016 heard at 0400 UTC, 7340 kHz, on March 2 UTC 2016 if found correct can forward to me your March 2016 QSL card verified with your station log book. Happy Easter and a joyous start to spring looking forward to the new schedule. The signal was over +30 db on my s-meter and bending my needle. It was excellent reception this evening wow!

Today’s news was collapse of the highrise apartment caused by the earthquakes generated in Tainan City in southern Taiwan. It was reported quickly in Japan, but I doubted, but the same area knew that it was an apartment built in the method of construction less than the building standard by the next operation why only that building collapsed as for a lot of similar buildings did not. Because of the profession, I leave Japan, too and conduct overseas affairs. Today’s last program was fresh, I heard for the first time. It was a title called Visit Romania, but received it I felt was welcome to Romania. I listened to the introduction of the good ski resort happily in the present season.

Koichi Saito, Japan

Dear RRI, I would like your latest QSL Card please. I received your station on Saturday, March 12, from 23:30 to 23:55 UTC on 7220 Khz with a SINPO rating of 44444. I was using a Russian built receiver a Vega Selena 215 Radio with long wire antenna. Your program was jazz piano music, DX Mailbag, letters from USA, Canada, India, Russia and Japan. Partners in a changing world, an interview with the Irish Ambassador to Romania.

Francis Lawlor, Ireland

Radio Romania is a reliable source of interesting programming for me through the English Service, as well as a gateway to music that I would likely never hear in the States. Twice now, Ive had to scour the Internet trying to figure out just what a particular song was! Ive succeeded both times, and Radio Romania gets the credit for introducing me to Electric Lady Labs You and Me and Ellie Whites Sete de noi.

I really enjoyed listening to RRI. The speakers did a really good job on slowing down their speech patterns so that their English was more understandable. I have noticed in the past that sometimes the speakers talk very fast and it is hard to understand them sometimes. This is only once in a while. Normally the program is perfect in its presentation. I thought the economic news was very informative and in depth. I like that this part of the news is very truthful with problems being talked about and not just glossed over. I thought the music that played was very cool, I just wish the song would have played all the way through. Many times at night I listen to RRI play music on their Romanian language programs. There is some pretty good rock and roll played at times along with traditional music. I do have one small suggestion. If you are stating that a program is 30 minutes, then it should run for 30 minutes. Today the program ended at 21:55 UTC, 5 minutes before it was published as ending. I realize this is a small issue but it does count.

Some weeks ago I came across your DX program on a Tuesday, not listed in your schedule. Admittedly, it was only an acknowledgement to the listeners, yet it was still a personal touch by you and greatly appreciated.
