The Week…in Your Letters
Excerpts from some of the messages sent in by our listeners

“I was able to hear your broadcast between 2140 to 2157. No interference from any other stations. SINPO 3-all. I do believe my last reception report was read out on air but did not catch it. How often do you read out these letters? I must start listening to your live streaming because radio reception is not always possible. My radio is a Tecsun portable PL310ET and I use an indoor longwire.

“Yesterday, December 20, I heard a beautiful Christmas program from your program Sunday Studio on 15150 kHz at 12:13 hours UTC. It was excellent on the Christmas festival celebration in Romania. Quite pertinent for the time being to enjoy. On December 1st I have listened to the program ‘Through the Looking Glass. Many more informative tips included.

“I especially appreciated ‘Roots with its description of the Romanian Christmas tree. In Sweden, the original Christmas tree is actually two crossed poles with twigs only near the top, placed outside at winter solstice as protection against evil supernatural forces. Thank you so much for the QSL I received in August this year, and for the Govora Spa Quiz special prize, a painting by Sergiu Plop, the painting looks really good on my wall!

“Today I received the new issue of DX-Aktuellt and I was pleasantly surprised to learn that RRI had been selected as this year’s QSL-station in recognition of the way you handle mail and reception reports from us listeners. All of you at RRI obviously work very hard not only producing interesting programmes but also attending to the requests of your many listeners. Please keep up the good work!

“I was able to tune in to RRI on 6145kHz at 01:15UTC. I heard News and the program ‘Focus on Romania followed by ‘Society today With a wonderful report about the number of refugees in Romania. Followed by ‘Visit Romania I really need to plan a trip to your country. The report makes it sound so lovely. My SINPO: 4-4-4-4-4 It was really a good signal tonight. I use a Grundig 750 with a 45 foot long wire. May I request a QSL card? This I think will complete my year of monthly reports! I look forward to receiving my certificate for listeners club.

“Dear sir, I am a regular listener of Radio Romania International, English service for the past 15 years. Now the economically well-developed nations are being stopped their short wave broadcast and switch over to Internet. But Radio Romania International is being continued their broadcast on short waves due to the benefits of Short wave listeners and Internet field is not well developed in African nations and in certain Asian countries. We welcome the Continuation of short wave broadcast by RRI. The news presented by RRI is being balanced and unbiased. The programme like news, news review, cultural events, All that Jazz and Inside Romania are good.

“Every time I listen to DX-Mailbag, you never fail to pick up reception reports from Japan. In fact, there are still many enthusiasts who listen to broadcasts on shortwave in Japan. I hope you would be able to continue your broadcast on shortwave as long as possible.
