Prosecutors with the Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism have requested the help of the FBI to conduct a genetic expertise, to establish the DNA profile in the case of Luiza Melencu, one of the girls that disappeared in Caracal, through a method other than the one used by the National Institute of Forensic Medicine. The head of the Directorate, Felix Banila, has stated that they have also asked for help to establish the psychological and behavioral profile of the suspect, Gheorghe Dinca.

Felix Banila: ” This is not about not trusting our institute. Its just that, given that it takes time to get accreditation for a method, cooperation with the US authorities is something than can help in this direction. As regards the profiler, we need a second opinion, in order to become certain about the suspects honesty.”

We recall that Gheorghe Dinca admitted to having killed 15 year-old Alexandra Macesanu on July 25th. Also, he claims hes killed Luiza Melencu, who was reported missing in April. The FBI has a long tradition in establishing the psychological profile of criminals and has a specialized division, established 35 years ago. Profilers analyze huge quantities of data to create the psychological, behavioral and legal profile of a dangerous criminal.

In the meantime, prosecutors of the General Prosecutors Office have identified several irregularities in the activity of prosecutors from the Caracal District Prosecutors Office and the head of the institution, the Public Ministry has announced. The institution has decided to dismiss five solutions of non-prosecution in rape and deprivation cases and to notify the Judicial Inspection for verification. The Prosecutors Office of the Craiova Court of Appeal will take the necessary measures to remedy the deficiencies. The control of the Caracal Prosecutors Office was ordered at the end of July, after the irregularities in the investigation of the Gheorghe Dinca case were found.

The echoes of the dramatic case are far from dying away. Against this background of collective shock, also in the south of the country, in Dambovita county, an 11-year-old girl disappeared last Friday on the way back from school. She was found on Sunday, dead, thrown in a field near the village. The investigations conducted in this case show that she was not raped, but subjected to sexual perversion, then strangled. This time, a 47-year-old Dutch citizen, who in the meantime appears to have died in a road accident in the Netherlands, is the prime suspect in the girls murder.
