Moreover, the Government has recently decided that Romanians working in the public sector can also take June 2nd off, and compensate for it at a later date. June 3 and 4 are weekend days and on Monday, June 5th, the Pentecost is celebrated, which is also a non-working day. So Romanians can enjoy a well-deserved 5-day holiday. On Thursday, the International Childrens Day was marked across Romania with special events, contests, shows and exhibitions. Scores of children, who had not got chance to see the Black Sea coast, were invited to spend five days there, as part of a programme dubbed “First Time on the Black Sea Coast.
Studies show that 22% of Romanians have never been on the Romanian Black Sea coast, and among them there are a lot of underprivileged children. This pilot programme will be turned into a national campaign and starting 2018 several travel agencies will join it.
This year, the campaigns programme includes leisure activities on the Black Sea shore, as well as visits to the Dolphinarium, the Tomis Port, the Casino and the Animal Farm in Mangalia. More than 50 thousand Romanians are expected to spend this 5-day holiday on the Black Sea coast, according to hotel owners. Mamaia, Venus and Vama Veche are on top of the tourists preferences. Accommodation fees in Mamaia range from 65 euro per night in a three-start hotel to 300 euro in a 5-star hotel.
The resorts in the south of the Black Sea coast are slightly cheaper, ranging from 10 to 100 euros per night. Parties, concerts and various cultural and sports events are these days organized for tourists on the Black Sea coast. The resorts located in the south, such as Saturn, Venus, Jupiter and Neptun are picked mostly by families with children while those in the North and also Vama Veche are a favourite with young people who want to party. The mountain resorts are also a good option for holidaying. In the Brasov area, in the center, the occupancy rate is 80%. Hotels and guest-houses here are almost fully booked and tourists are awaited with small prices and tasty food.
