The Romanian mens handball club Dinamo Bucharest on Thursday lost on home turf the match played against Paris Saint-Germain of France, 39-31, a confrontation counting towards Champions League Group B. Following this defeat, Dinamo now holds only mathematical chances of qualifying to the playoffs. Dinamo is currently bottom of the group tables, and needs to finish the group in 6th place, with only one game left to play.
In news from womens handball, this Saturday the Romanian national team is playing Denmark in Group 2 in the European Championship preliminaries in a match hosted by Odense. On Wednesday, in Mioveni, Denmark defeated Romania 35-28. Denmark is top of the group tables with 6 points, followed by Romania with 3 points, Austria with 1 point and the Faeroe Islands with zero points. The top two teams will qualify to the European Championship.
This week saw a new round in the Romanian First Football League. On Tuesday, Chindia Târgoviște won 1-0 against UTA Arad on home turf. Sepsi Sfântu Gheorghe won away from home against Dinamo Bucahrest, 3-1, while FC U Craiova won 3-2 the match played at home against Rapid Bucharest. On Wendesday, Academica Clinceni won 2-0 against Gaz Metan Mediaș, Universitatea Craiova won 3-0 against CS Mioveni, while CFR Cluj won 1-0 agaisnt FC Voluntari. On Thursday, Farul Constanța won 2-0 against FC Botoșani, whereas FC Argeș defeated FCSB 1-0 at home.
This weekend will see matches counting towards the 30th round, the last of the regular season. On Friday, Sepsi Sfântu Gheorghe is playing FC U Craiova. On Saturday, in Arad, UTA will go up against CS Mioveni, while Rapid Bucharest will take on Academica Clinceni. On Sunday, Gaz Metan Mediaș will play Chindia Târgoviște, CFR Cluj is playing Dinamo Bucharest, while FCSB is playing FC Voluntari on National Arena Stadium in Bucharest. On Monday, Universitatea Craiova is playing Farul Constanța while FC Botoșani will go up against FC Argeș. CFR Cluj tops the league tables with 73 points, followed by FCSB with 59 points. (VP)
