Vienna hosted on
Thursday the draw for the Champions League in handball. In the men’s competitions,
Dinamo Bucharest, Romania’s champion, will play in Group D, alongside the
Russians from Cehovskie Medvedi, Kadetten Schaffhausen of Switzerland,
Kristianstad of Sweden, Orlen Wisla Plock of Poland and GOG Gudme of Denmark.
The group stage will start in September 11-15.
In the women’s
competitions, Romanian champion SCM Ramnicu Valcea is part of group C, together
with Buducnost Podgorita of Montenegro, Bietigheim of Germany and Brest
Bretagne of France. CSM Bucharest, who entered the group stage thanks to a wild
card from the European Federation, will play in Group B, alongside Rostov-Don
of Russia, Team Esbjerg of Denmark and Perla Lublin of Poland. The matches are
due to start on October 3rd and end on November 17th, and
the top three teams will go straight into the main groups.
Now news from
football. FC Botosani was defeated on Thursday 2-1 by the Bulgarian champion
Ludogoret Razgrad, in a training game part of the stage held in Austria. Andrei
Miron scored for the team coached by Marius Croitoru in the 42nd
minute. FC Botosani will play its next friendly game on June 30th,
against the Check FK Jablonec.
FC Voluntari
defeated the Serbian squad FK Vozdovac 2-nil on Thursday, in the first friendly
game held as part of the training stage in Slovenia. The two goals were scored
by Ion Gheorghe and Gabi Deac.
In Brasov, where
it is currently training, Viitorul Constanta has defeated the tier-3 squad FK
Csikszereda from Miercurea Ciuc, 2-nil. The goals were scored by the French
Hamidou Keyta and the
Romanian Cosmin Tucaliuc.
