The Swedish and Dutch teams scored
victories on Thursday, in group D of the 2021 European Women’s Volleyball
Championship hosted by the Romanian city of Cluj-Napoca. Sweden defeated
Finland 3-2, in a match that lasted more than 2 hours. Then, the Netherlands
defeated Ukraine 3-nil. On Wednesday, in the first match of the group, Romania
had been defeated by Turkey 3-1.
Two matches are scheduled for Friday:
Finland vs. the Netherlands, and Turkey vs. Ukraine. The Romanian volley
players will play again on Saturday, against Sweden. The match between Finland
and Ukraine will also be played on Saturday. Romania’s goal is to get to one of
the first four places in the group and to qualify for the round of 16.
Two matches counting for the sixth
leg of the Romanian Football Championship are played this weekend. On Friday,
two matches: Chindia Targoviste vs. Academica of Clinceni, and Farul Constanta
vs. Dinamo Bucharest. On Saturday, Universitatea Craiova will take on Gaz Metan
Medias, on home turf, and FC Arges will be playing in Pitesti against CFR Cluj.
On Sunday, in Arad, the hosts UTA
will play against FC Voluntari, and FC Botosani takes on Rapid Bucharest, on
home turf, in a derby that brings together the teams ranking 2nd and
3rd in the current classification. The teams have 13 points each,
but the Bucharest squad is advantaged by its goal average and the fact that it
has not received any goal yet in the current championship.
The sixth leg is due to end on
Monday. SC Mioveni will be playing on home turf against FCU Craiova, and FCSB
will take on Sepsi Sfantu Gheorghe, at the National Arena in Bucharest. It will
