In the
highlight match of the Romanian women’s handball championship, the team in top
position in the league tables, CSM Bucharest, trounced Minaur Baia Mare in
runner-up position, score 37-26. The match was played on Thursday in Râmnicu Valcea.
The top scorers for CSM were Crina Pintea with 11 goals and Cristina Neagu with
7 goals. The top scorer for Minaur was Cristina Laslo with 7 goals. In another
fixture, the team in 3rd position, SCM Râmnicu Valcea, defeated
Gloria Buzău, 34-23.
The
pre-Olympic kayak-canoe event hosted this week by Szeged in Hungary didn’t
yield any notable results for Romanian crews. The closest to securing qualification
to the Tokyo Olympics was Constantin Dîba, who finished in 2nd place
the final of the men’s single canoe 1,000-m race. He was outranked by Pavlo
Atuhov of Ukraine, who thus booked his ticket to the Olympic Games. According
to the Facebook page of Dinamo Bucharest sports club, where Dîba is enrolled,
our Romanian rower has one last chance of securing qualification to Tokyo if other
athletes get reassigned or if he is awarded a wildcard. Right now, Romania will
be represented in the Olympics by the men’s double canoe crew in the 1,000-m
race.
Horia Tecău
and Kevin Krawietz have advanced to the quarterfinals of the men’s doubles at the
ATP Masters 1000 Tournament in Rome, totaling €2 million in prize money, after
ousting Liam Broady and Andy Murray of Great Britain, 6-3, 6-4.
This weekend

Constanța. On Saturday, Politehnica Iași will take on FC Hermannstadt at home,
