The
17th edition of the World Outdoor Athletics Championships kick-starts
in Qatar’s Doha on Friday, September 27. The Romanian delegation is made of ten
athletes. They are high-jump athlete Daniela Stanciu, long-jump athlete Florentina
Iusco, Claudia Bobocea, a runner in the 1,500m race and Alin Firfirica, who
will prove his mettle in the discus throw event. Joining them are Narcis
Mihaila, who competes in the 50-kilometer race walk, shot-put athlete Andrei
Gag, Andreea Panturoiu, who competes in the triple jump event, javelin thrower Alexandru
Novac and Bianca Ghelber, who will compete in the hammer throw event. The race
walk and the marathon will be held during the night, because of the high
temperature readings in Doha. For their most part, events will be venued by the
Al Khalifa stadium in Doha, which has air conditioning facilities. The World
Outdoor Athletics Championships will draw to a close on October 6th.

A
Complete, 4-star International Competition is staged in Floresti, Prahova
County. For Romanian sports, it is an absolute first, since horses and jockeys
from all around the world return to Floresti, for an event which is one-of-a-kind
in South-East Europe. The competition brings participants the required
qualification points ahead of the 2020 edition of the Olympics, to be held in
Japan
