The home series as part of
domestic League One women’s handball championship has recently drawn to a
close. CSM Bucharest are at the top of the table, with 40 points. Following are
Minaur
Baia Mare, with 37, and SCM Râmnicu Vâlcea, with 36 points. In the home series’
last round held in Bucharest this week, CSM Bucharest defeated Dacia Mioveni, 28
to 23, Minaur Baia Mare grabbed a 37-32 win over CSM Galați, while SCM Ramnicu Vâlcea
trounced Rapid Bucharest, 25 to 14. The competition will be resumed in late
April. CSM Bucharest later this week play the return leg of the Champions
League’s quarterfinals. CSM take on TSKA Moscow, away from home. In the first
round in Bucharest, CSM trounced TSKA, 32 to 27. This coming Saturday and
Sunday, also in Russia, Rostov-Don take on Vipers Kristiansand of Norway. Brest Bretagne are pitted
against Metz Handball, in Metz on Sunday. Brest Bretagne are highly likely to
qualify on aggregate, since in the first leg they trounced Metz, 34 to 24. Hungarian team Gyor
are also likely to win the tie against Montenegro’s Buducnost Podgorica on
aggregate, since Gyor grabbed a precious 30-19 win away from home.
The coming weekend will see
matches being played, counting towards the 30th round of domestic
League One football championship, the regular season. On Friday, Astra Giurgiu
face UTA Arad, Dinamo Bucharest play
Academica Clinceni, FC Arges go against Chindia Targoviste, while FC Voluntari
are pitted against FC Botoșani. On Saturday, Sepsi Sfantu Gheorghe face FCSB.
On Sunday, the southern Romanian city of Craiova plays host to the 30th round’s
derby as Universitatea Craiova play CFR Cluj. On Monday, Poli Iasi take on FC Hermannstadt,
while Viitorul Constanța play Gaz Metan Mediaș. FCSB are at the top of the
table, with 64 points, followed by CFR Cluj, with 63, and Universitatea Craiova,
with 57 points.
