In the European
Nations’ League, Romania on Sunday lost nil-4 to Norway in Olso. Erling Haaland
scored a triple for the hosts on minutes 13, 64 and 74, and Alexander Sørloth
also scored on minute 39. Romania had a poor display of football overall.
Goalkeeper Ciprian Tătărușanu’s good performance was the only thing that
prevent the score from further escalating. Also on Sunday, in the other group
fixture, Austria defeated Northern Ireland 1-nil. Romania will next play
Austria on October 14 in Ploieşti.

The Romanian
women’s handball club CSM Bucharest, without its top player Cristina Neagu in
the lineup, lost to Vipers Kristiansand of Norway 30-25 on Saturday in
Champions League Group A. Adrian Vasile’s team sustained its first defeat in
the group, after winning the first two matches. Vipers is thus the new leader
of Group A with 6 points in 3 games. CSM is ranked 4th, with 4
points in 3 games. CSM will next play Ferencvaros Budapest at home on October
18. In Group B, SCM Râmnicu Vâlcea was due to play Podravka Koprivnica of Croatia
at home on Sunday, but the match was postponed due to COVID infections. SCM
Râmnicu Vâlcea is due to play Győr of Hungary away from home next Saturday. Also
in women’s handball, Dunărea Brăila advanced to the EHF European League third
preliminary round after defeating Tertnes Bergen of Norway in a double-leg
played at home. On Saturday, Dunărea won 28-26 and on Sunday it lost 25-26.
