The Romanian women’s handball side CSM Bucharest on Sunday made it to the third place of the ranking of the Champions League Group A. On Sunday, the Romanians secured a 29-27 win against Danish side, Nykøbing Falster. Cristina Neagu scored 7 goals for CSM while Crina Pintea added six more. In the same group on Saturday, Storhamar Handball Elite outperformed Krim Mercator Ljubljana, 29-28. On Saturday, Gloria Bistriţa-Năsăud conceded a 26-23 home defeat to Ferencváros Budapest and is presently ranking 7th in the group.
On February 8, Gloria will be up against Krim Ljubljana in an away match, while a day later, CSM will be playing Podravka Koprivnica in Bucharest. In Group B, Rapid lost 26-28 to Danish side Team Esbjerg. Romania’s vice-champions are presently ranking 7th in Group B and will be playing German side Ludwigsburg in an away game on February 9.
In the EHF European League’s Group A, Dunărea Brăila managed their third consecutive win: 26-22, in Buzău against German side Thüringer and is presently topping the group. They will be taking on Thuringer in Germany in a fortnight.
Another Romanian side, SCM Ramnicu Valcea, which tops Group B, on Saturday clinched a 32-29 win against the Norwegians from Sola. SCM will be playing Sola in Norway on February 8.
Last weekend saw the matches of the 23rd leg of the Romanian Football Superleague. Here are some results.
On Friday, Gloria Buzău clinched a 3-0 home win against Unirea Slobozia, whereas the game in Bucharest pitching Dinamo against Universitatea Cluj ended in a goaless draw. On Saturday Hermannstadt secured a 2-0 away win against, Poli Iaşi, while in Bucharest, local side Rapid outperformed Universitatea Craiova one-nil. On Sunday, Sepsi Sfântu Gheorghe obtained a 2-0 home win against Oţelul Galaţi, and FCSB defeated UTA Arad 1-0. The leg’s last games on Monday: Petrolul Ploieşti versus FC Botoşani and CFR Cluj versus Farul Constanţa. Universitatea Cluj and FCSB are topping the ranking each with 41 points, followed by Dinamo Bucharest with 38.
