On Tuesday, in Kaunas, the Romanian football team will take on Lithuania, in Nations League Group C3. Right now, Romania ranks first in the group tables, with 3 wins in 3 matches. On Saturday, Romania defeated Cyprus 3-0 away from home. The goal scorers were Dennis Man on minute 16, Răzvan Marin from penalty kick nine minutes later and Radu Drăguşin on minute 36. The team coached by Mircea Lucescu put on an impressive display of football in Cyprus in what many describe as their best game so far. CSM Bucharest women’s handball team on Saturday grabbed a new victory in Champions League, Group A. Danish coach Helle Thomsen’s trainees defeated Krim Ljubljana, 31-29. The Slovenian side had won all four games played so far in the current season of the League. The top scorer for CSM was the Slovenian player Elizabeth Omoregie, with 8 goals. Also in Group A, on Saturday, Gloria Bistriţa-Năsăud was defeated at home by the Croatian side Podravka Koprivnica, 29-25. It was the fourth match in a row lost by Gloria, who are in their first Champions League appearance this year. In the first game, Gloria had defeated CSM. Now, they are in 6th place in the group standings with 2 points, and on Sunday they will play Storhamar of Norway away from home. CSM ranks fourth, with 8 points, and will play the French team Metz on Sunday at home.
On Sunday, in Group B, Rapid Bucharest played Odense of Denmark away from home. The Nordic team clearly prevailed, 32-24. The Romanian side coped only in the first minutes of the game, then the Danes definitively took control. The top scorer for Rapid with seven goals was the Serbian player Andjela Janjusevic. In the regional Erste League ice hockey competition, Sports Club Miercurea Ciuc beat Ferencvaros Budapest 2-1 on Sunday away from home, while ACSH Gheorgheni won against Dunaujvarosi Acelbikak, also in Hungary, 4-3 at the end of extra time.
