Romanias defending champion, Simone Tempestini, won the Moldova Rally, the sixth stage of the National Rally Championship, on Sunday. The Simone Tempestini / Sergiu Itu crew was followed by Sebastian Barbu / Bogdan Iancu. After this result, Sebastian Barbu is the new leader in the general rankings. The best seven results from the total of nine scheduled stages are taken into account. The seventh stage of the season will be the Iași Rally, between September 2-4.
Romania will be represented by a delegation of 11 athletes, led by the double world champion David Popovici at the European Swimming Championships, which started on Thursday in Rome. The Romanian athletes will participate in swimming, diving and high jump events. David Popovici announces himself as the favorite in the 100 meters and 200 meters freestyle, from the position of world champion in both events in Budapest, this year. Robert Glința will be missing from the Romanian delegation. At the previous edition in 2020, in Budapest, he won the only medals for Romania: gold in the 100-meter backstroke and silver in the 50-meter backstroke.

On Saturday, CS Mioveni ended in a tie, 1 – 1, at home, the match against FCSB, then, in Bucharest, Rapid beat FC Argeș 2-1. Three games were played on Sunday. In Sfântu Gheorghe, Sepsi ended in a draw with UTA Arad, 0 – 0, then, in Ploiesti, CFR Cluj beat Chindia Târgoviște 2-0. In the last game of the day, the Craiova derby, Universitatea beat FC U 2-1. The last two games of the stage are due Monday: FC Hermannstadt with FC Voluntari and FC Botoșani with Farul Constanța. In the rankings, CFR Cluj and Rapid Bucharest lead, with 9 points each. (MI)
