The Romanian rower Cătălin Chirilă has walked away with two medals in the recently-held World-Cup-level rowing competition in Racice, the Czech Republic. Laura Ilie’s most recent feat has earned the Romanian the 2nd place according to the event’s world rankings. Laura continues to amass points that will earn her the qualification to the 2024 edition of the Olympic Games in Paris. Next week Laura Ilie will compete in the Grand Prix contest in Baku, Azerbaijan.
This past Saturday, first-leg fixtures were played, decisive for the teams’ promotion or staying in Romanian League One in football. In Chiajna, second-tier squad Concordia defeated Chindia Targoviste, 2-1. Then in Cluj, the local side Universitatea, also a second-tier team, defeated Dinamo Bucharest, 2-nil.
