Romanian women’s handball side, SCM Râmnicu Vâlcea, on Sunday secured their
first win in this year’s edition of the Champions League. SCM clinched a 27-25
away win against the Croatians from Podravka Koprivnica. German handballer
Evgenija Minevskaja scored most of the goals for the Romanian side, 7. The
Romanian champions are now ranking 6th in group B. In group A, CSM
Bucharest dropped to the third position after losing to Vipers Kristiansand of
Norway 22-29.
In the
Champions League, Dunarea Braila ended in a 25-all draw their game against
Russian side Kuban Krasnodar. Dunarea ranked 2nd in the
competition’s group D with three points, the same as the group’s leader,
Hungarian side Siofok.
Ice
hockey now. Romanian side CS Gheorgheni secured a 1-0 win against their
Hungarian opponent DEAC Debrecen in an away game counting towards the regional
competition Erste Liga. Akos Szigeti scored the match’s only goal in the last
minute of the game. Before this game CS had suffered two consecutive away
defeats and are presently ranking 7th in the competition.
Last
weekend saw the matches counting towards the 17th leg of Romania’s
first football league. On Saturday, Chindia Targoviste secured a 1-0 away win
against Dinamo Bucharest. Sunday saw three matches. In Pitesti, southern
Romania, FC Arges versus Gaz Metan Medias ended in a one-all draw, while in
Sfantu Gheorghe, central Romania, local side Sepsi lost to CFR Cluj 1-0.
Academica
Clinceni versus FC Hermannstadt ended in a goaless draw in Calarasi, southern
Romania. On Monday Poli Iasi takes on FC Botosani and Astra Giurgiu is up
against Universitatea Craiova. Two matches have been scheduled for Tuesday, FC
Voluntari plays UTA and Viitorul Constanta takes on FCSB, a team which is
currently ranking first in the standings with 37 points, followed by CFR Cluj,
with the same number of points but a lower goal ratio.
