Romanian women’s handball team Dunărea Brăila has got
through to the group stage of EHF European League, which is Europe’s second
most important competition after the Champions League. Dunarea Braila won both
legs of the tie they played on home court against Danish team Viborg. The tie

Dunarea Braila grabbed a 26-24 win, while on Sunday, they won again, 32-28.
Also in the third preliminary round, another Romanian team, Gloria Buizau, was
outclassed by French opponents Nantes. On Saturday, Gloria succeeded a 27-21
home win. In the first leg, however, Nantes won, 23-16, so Nantes were the
winners of the tie, on aggregate. The
competition’s next stage includes four groups with four teams each and will
kick off in January 2021.

The surprise of the round was provided by the newly-promoted UTA Arad’s 1-nil
win against defending champions CFR Cluj. Universitatea Craiova are at the top
