Romania’s rugby team on Saturday
lost to Georgia in Tbilisi 41-13 in the first round of the 2020 Rugby Europe
Championship. The points for the Oaks were scored by Florin Vlaicu, from two
penalty kicks, one try and one conversion. In the other fixtures, Spain
defeated Russia 31-12 and Portugal grabbed a 23-17 home win over Belgium. In
the next round Romania will play Portugal on February 8.
In women’s handball, both teams
performing in Sunday’s Champions League matches grabbed wins. In Group 1, CSM
Bucharest won 32-27 against Metz of France at home. Cristina Neagu scored a
total of 14 goals. CSM is ranked 5th in the group tables with 5
points, the same as Vipers Kristiansand of Norway, which it will take on next
Saturday. In Group 2, SCM Ramnicu Valcea won 23-17 against Savehof of Sweden
