The Romanian women’s handball team has secured its
participation in the main group stage of the European women’s handball
championship, underway in Denmark. In a Group D fixture, Romania outclassed
Poland this past Saturday in Kolding, 28-24.
In Romania’s ice-hockey championship, Steaua Bucharest
thrashed Sportul Studentesc, in the double-legged tie hosted by the Olympic
Skating Rink in Brasov, 26-nil on Saturday and 18-3 on Sunday. CS Gheorgheni
are at the top in the as-it-stands table, with 24 points in nine games. CSM Galati
are the runner-up team, with 23 points in a similar number of games, nine.
This past weekend saw matches being played, counting
towards domestic League One’s round 12. On Friday, FC Voluntari were held by
guest team Academica Clinceni to a 3-all draw. Also on Friday, Dinamo Bucharest
grabbed a 1-nil away win against FC Arges. In Sfantu Gheorghe, the local team
Sepsi were held by FC Botosani to a 2-all draw. In a match hosted by the
National Arena in Bucharest, FCSB grabbed a 3-nil win against UTA Arad. The
match pitting Viitorul Constanta against FC Hermannstadt was postponed, because
of the latter team’s reported COVID-19 infections.
FCSB are at the top of the table, with 30 points,
followed by Universitatea Craiova, with 25 points.
This past Sunday, the Romanian midfielder Răzvan Marin
has scored his first goal for his Serie A team, Cagliari, in its away game
against Verona, which ended 1-all. The fixture counted towards the 10th
round of the Italian championship. In the ongoing competition season, Razvan
Marin has been on the pitch for all 10 games Cagliari has played so far. In the
game against Verona, in for the Romanian was Uruguayan footballer Christian
Oliva starting minute 83. In the as-it-stands table, Cagliari are 11th-placed,
with 12 points on their record sheet.
