We kick off with news from ice hockey. SC Miercurea Ciuc on Saturday
won 8-4 against Fehervari Titanok away from home in the regional Erste League.
In Brasov, the local side Corona lost 3-4 to Ferencvaros of Hungary. ACSH
Gheorgheni also lost at home 2-3 to Ujpest. Ranking first is SC Miercurea Ciuc
with 86 points, followed by Ferencvaros of Hungary with 77.
The Romanian men’s handball side
has advanced to the second preliminary round in the 2021 World Handball Cup.
Romania won Group 3 in the first preliminary phase hosted by Benevento in
Italy. Romania defeated Georgia 29-24, Kosovo 32-21 and Italy 29-24.
This weekend saw matches counting
towards the women’s EHF Cup. In Group B, Magura Cisnadie lost to Siofok of
Hungary 31-23 at home. In the other group fixture, Podravka of Croatia won
28-26 against Denmark’s Kobenhavn Handball. Siofok and Podravka rank first in
the group tables, each with 4 points. The two sides will go up against each
other this Saturday. On Sunday, Magura Cisnadie will play Kobenhavn Handball of
Denmark away from home. The two teams are yet to secure their first points.
In Group C, Gloria Bistrita-Nasaud
drew 25-all against Hungary’s ERD in a match played at home. In the other group
fixture, Odense Handbold of Denmark won 35-18 against MKS Lublin of Poland.
Odense tops the group tables with 4 points, followed by Gloria with 2 points.
On Saturday, ERD will take on Lublin on home turf while Gloria Bistrita-Nasaud
will travel to Denmark to take on Odense.
We end with news from football.
League 1 teams are preparing for the second half of the regular season. In the
first friendly match played as part of their camp in Turkey, Universitatea
Craiova won against Eintracht Braunschweig of Germany 2-nil. Valentin Mihaila
scored the first goal on minute 54, while the German side’s goalkeeper Jasmin
Fejzeic scored an own-goal on minute 83.
