Romanian tennis player Filip
Cristian Jianu on Sunday won the ITF tournament in Pitesti, southern Romania as
his contender from Serbia, Marko Tepavac abandoned the game after Filip had won
two sets 7-6, 5-0.
A pair made up of Romanian tennis
player Florin Mergea and Andrei Begemann of Germany won the challenger
tournament in the German town of Meerbusch, a competition with 46,600 Euros in
prize money. In the finals on Sunday Mergea and Begemann secured a 7-6, 6-7,
10-3 win against Sriram Balaji and Vishnu Vardhan of India.
CSM Bucharest, a women’s handball
side from Romania, have lost both games they played in the Challenge Christophe
Caraty, a tournament hosted by the French cities of Quimper and Plabennec. On
Saturday, Romania’s vice-champions were defeated by Montenegrin side Buducnost
Podgorica 27-23 and lost to Brest Bretagne 30-32 a day later.

footballer got the upper hand for Reading 25 minutes into the play adding a

counting towards the sixth leg of Romania’s first football league. On Friday,
FC Hermannstadt secured a 2-1 win against Academica Clinceni, while in
Ploiesti, southern Romania, Chindia Targoviste clinched a 3-2 win against
Dinamo Bucharest. On Saturday in Sfantu Gheorghe, local side Sepsi secured a
one-all draw against CFR Cluj.
Sunday’s game pitching FC Botosani against
Universitatea Craiova also ended one-all. Then in Pitesti, Poli Iasi obtained a
2-1 win against FCSB. CFR Cluj and Poli Iasi top the table, each with 14
points.
