Romanian tennis player Simona Halep
has advanced to the quarterfinals of the German Bad Homburg tournament, an
event with 203, 240 Euro in prize money. Halep defeated Slovenian challenger Tamara Zidansek, 6-nil, 6-3. In the
quarterfinal, Simona Halep faces US opponent Amanda Anisimova, who previously outclassed
another US player, Anna Li, 6-nil, 6-2.
In a Group E debut fixture
counting towards the Under-20 World Women’s Handball Championship, in Celje, the
Romanian women’s national handball team defeated Angola, 26-23. In the other
Group E match, The Czech Republic trounced Lithuania, 33-16. ON June 24, The
Czech Republic takes on Angola, while Romanian is pitted against Lithuania. The
first two teams in descending order will advance to the competition’s main
group stage.

Reghecampf has been appointed head-coach of Neftci Baku, according to a message
posted on Azeri vice-champion team’s official site. 46-year-old Reghecampf has
recently terminated his contract with Universitatea Craiova, the League One
team that came in 3rd at the end of the previous football season.
The AROBS X-Man Romania 2022
National long-distance Triathlon Championship will kick-start on July 2. 300
athletes from seven countries will prove their mettle in the event. Among them,
athletes from Romania, but also from Hungary, Belgium, New Zealand, Greece,
Republic of Moldova, Serbia. The competition will be held along two routes,
with different lengths. The Full Ironman distance includes 3.800 kilometers swimming,
180 kilometers cycling, 42.2 kilometers distance running. The Half Ironman
version includes 1.900 kilometers swimming, 93 kilometers cycling and 21.6
kilometers running. Both routes can be taken individually, but also in teams.
