before leaving for Montenegro five days later. In Montenegro, Romania will be
facing Thailand on 20th March; Norway on the 21st; and
the host country on the 22nd. To qualify for the Olympic Games,
Romania need to finish in the top two.
After the Olympic
qualification tournament in Montenegro, Romania will play against Poland in
Group 7 of qualification phase two in the run-up to the European Championships
hosted by Norway and Denmark later this year. They first meet in Lubin, Poland
on 25th March, and then in Ploieşti, in Romania, on the 29th.
So far, both sides have two wins each, having both won against Ukraine and the
Faroe Islands last September. The European Championships are scheduled to take
place between 3rd and 20th December. The preliminary
group matches will be played in Denmark in Frederikshavn and Herning and in
Norway in Trondheim. The main round matches will be played in Oslo, in the immense
Telenor Arena, with its 12,000 seats. Let us also note that Denmark and Norway
have also jointly hosted the European Championships in 2010. At the time,
Romania finished third after defeating Denmark 16:15 in the match for the third
place. (CM)
