Alba secured a 3-0 win in
Sibiu against the Turkish side Galatasaray with a 15-5 in the golden set. The
visitors only managed to challenge the hosts in the second set. Ioana Maria
Baciu was the best scorer of the Romanian squad with 18 points. We recall that Galatasaray
had won the first match 3-0. Stiinta Bacau managed to secure wins both in the
first and the return game of the quarterfinals against the Czech side Olomouc.
The first game went to the Romanians 3-2 who also managed the same result away.
The Czech side won the first two sets but Stiinta came back with a vengeance sealing
the points in the tiebreak. Ana Cristina Cazacu scored most of the points for
the Romanian side, 20. The first match of the semifinals is due on 26th
February with the return game scheduled for 5th March.
In the Champions League’s
Group E, the Romanian side CSM Bucharest will be up against the Polish team
Chemik Police in a home match on 20th February. Last week, CSM conceded
a 3-1 defeat to the Russian side Dinamo Moscow. That was the third defeat in a
row for the Romanian champions who started off on the right foot in the
competition with an away win.
