Headcoach Ion Andone, a former component of the golden generation of Romania’s national football side, has made public his support for Ionut Lupescu in the race for the chairmanship of Romania’s Football Federation due on April 18th. Andone believes that Lupescu’s strong points are his experience as a UEFA official and the projects he has come up with for the development of the Romanian football.
Andone has thus joined the coaches who support Lupescu for this position such as Mircea Lucescu, sir. Alex Ferguson, Ilie Balaci, Costel Galca, Ioan Ovidiu Sabau and Razvan Lucescu. The committee in charge of candidacy validation has so far validated the files of four candidates, Razvan Burleanu, Ionut Lupescu, Marcel Puscas and Ilie Dragan and rejected the candidacy of Sorin Raducanu. 257 of the affiliated members have the right to vote on April 18th.
Romanian football club Juventus Bucharest has been fined by the Discipline Committee of the Romanian Football Federation with 2,175 euros after the xenophobic incident during the game against Sepsi Sfantu Gheorghe in the 4th leg of the first football division when a song inciting to ethnic hatred was being played on the stadium. Juventus’ manager and stadium announcer will also have to pay fines of 1,415 and 545 euros respectively.
In the first round of the Bulgaria Cup’s semifinals, Levski Sofia has secured a two-nil win against archrivals CSKA Sofia. Romanian Sergiu Bus has scored twice for the winners, on the 7th and 46th minute. Bus was also part of the CSKA lineup during the 2014 and 2015 football season.
Goalkeeper trainer Radu Sardescu of Concordia Chiajna is going to coach the goalies of Turkish first leaguer Kayserispor, a side, which has a Romanian manager, Marius Sumudica. Kayserispor is currently ranking sixth in Turkey’s first football league with 41 points in 28 legs.
