Spain is the country with the greatest number of teams to have made it to the quarterfinals of the Champions League
Florin Orban, 16.03.2017, 13:05
No less than three Spanish teams have gone past the round of 16. They are Real Madrid, Barcelona and Athletico. Following in descending order are Germany, with two sides, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, France, represented by AS Monaco, England, represented by Leicester, while Juventus of Turin is the only Italian team that has got through to the League’s quarterfinals.
The manager of the Romanian national team, the German Christoph Daum, is facing a serious lineup problem ahead of next week’s fixture pitting Romania against Denmark. Striker Bogdan Stancu, a full-timer for most of Romanian national squad’s games as of late has health problems, and his presence in Romania’s eleven against Denmark is still uncertain.
Under the circumstances, Daum summoned Gheorghe Grozav, a footballer currently playing for Terek Grozny in Russia. However, fighting for the striker position will most likely be Claudiu Keseru, and Denis Alibec. We recall the former footballer plays for Bulgarian squad Ludogorets Razgrad, while the latter plays for Steaua Bucharest.
We remind you that Romania‘s fixture against Denmark is scheduled on Sunday, March 26th and will be hosted by the Dr Constantin Radulescu stadium in the central Transylvanian city of Cluj. The match counts towards the preliminaries of the World Championship in 2018, Group E. Romania is 4th-placed in the as-it-stands table, having one win in four games on its record sheet, and is hankering for a win in the game against Denmark.
We go out with the latest from League One, as this coming Saturday in Ovidiu, top-of-the-table team Steaua Bucharest take on the second side in the standings Viitorul Constanta, in the first derby of the regular play-off series. With former international footballer and club owner Gheorghe Hagi at the helm, Viitorul Constanta has a dismal record of 11 consecutive defeats by Steaua. Head-to-heads also reveal that Viitorul grabbed only one win against Steaua, as in 2013 they beat the Bucharest team 5-2, away from home.
