Romanian football club Steaua Bucharest has agreed with Astra Giurgiu, another Romanian eleven based in southern Romania for the transfer of Brazilian Junior Morais. Because the transfer period has already ended, the player will start training this winter under the guidance of coach Laurentiu Reghecampf just like striker Denis Alibec. Steaua has also brought this season three players from Astra: Gabriel Enache and Brazilians Fernando Boldrin and William De Amorim.
Former international Adrian Mutu has been appointed manager general of Dinamo Bucharest, the club’s main shareholder Ionut Negoita has announced on the club’s official webpage. Mutu started his career with FC Arges and was later transferred to Dinamo Bucharest for which he scored 29 goals in 42 games and with whom he won the Romanian Championship and Cup in the 1999-2000 football season. Mutu has won 77 caps for the national football side for which he scored 35 goals. In his career he played for Internazionale Milan, Verona, Parma, Chelsea, Juventus, Fiorentina, Cesena, Ajaccio, Pune City in India and Petrolul Ploiesti. He played his last games for ASA Targu Mures, where he also became an assistant coach at the end of the past football season.
Spain’s second-leaguer Alcorcon has terminated the contract of its Romanian headcoach Cosmin Contra. The coach was sacked after Alcorcon’s qualification for the round of 32 of Spain’s Cup thanks to a one-nil win against Elche. In the championships, however, Alcorcon is still ranking 20th after 9 legs, on the last but one position with only 9 points. Contra took over Alcorcon in July when he signed a one-year contract.
