This is the second gold medal for Munteanu in European competitions. Last year in Sofia, her first official competition, she contributed to the gold medal Romania grabbed in the team event.
Andreea Munteanu was born on May 29, 1998 in Bustuchin village, Gorj County, South-Western Romania. In April 2012 she was drafted into Romania’s under 21 team for the European Championships in Brussels. That year she ranked 3rd with the team, grabbing another two medals: silver in the beam event and bronze in the floor event. She made her debut with Romania’s senior team in March 2014, at the World Cup competition in Cottbus, Germany, where she won bronze in the beam event. This year, at the World Cup competition in Cottbus she won gold in the beam event and silver in the floor finals.
