After a powerhouse start in the first set, Simona Halep lost 4-6 the second set to Jelena Ostapenko, only to lose 6-3 in the decisive set.
The Latvian player had more winners in the third set as opposed to Halep’s unforced errors. Halep’s game looked a bit sloppy in the third set, also against the backdrop of some sensational hits put in by Ostapenko.
Aged 25, Halep is yet to grab the first Grand Slam of her career.
