Constantin Hogea, the Mayor of the city of Tulcea, in the south east, is to find out whether he will be placed under detention pending trial. He has been taken into custody by anti-corruption prosecutors for bribe-taking, following the searches conducted at the City Hall office, at his home and at several company offices, in an investigation into offences perpetrated last year. The mayor allegedly received an apartment as bribe for approving a building permit for a company in Tulcea. Prosecutors also ordered the detention of the manager of the respective company, for bribe giving. Another 3 people, including the mayors wife, were placed under court supervision for 60 days.
More than 200 films produced in 60 countries will be screened, as of today, in the 14th Transilvania International Film Festival, in Cluj, the largest such event in Romania. The opening night will see the national premiere of the film Relatos salvajes/ Wild Tales, by Damián Szifron, Argentinas entry for this years Oscars. Actress Nastasia Kinski is one of the stars attending the festival.

Steaua Bucharest has won the Romanian football championship, for the third running year. This is the 26th champion title in the history of the club.
