Over 50 thousand people have been arrested and 140 thousand dismissed or suspended from their positions after last summer’s attempted coup d’etat. The opposition leader that started the rally and covered almost 20 kms said that the cleansing and the state of emergency imposed by Erdogan represented a “second coup d’etat”. President Erdogan sharply criticized the rally, claming that the protesters were supporting the terrorists, according to the BBC.
