WIMBLEDON — WTA no. 2 Simona Halep on Tuesday lost to Johanna Konta of Great Birtain in the Wimbledon quarterfinals 7-6, 6-7, 4-6. Halep thus missed the opportunity to climbing in top position in WTA standings. Also in the eighth finals, this time in the doubles, the Romanian-Taiwanese pair Monica Niculescu/ Chan Hao-Ching defeated the Brazilian-Croatian pair Beatriz Haddad Maia/ Ana Konjuh, and will face in the quarter finals the US- Czech pair Cici Bellis- Marketa Vondrousova.
