The Constitutional Court of Romania Sunday concluded its analysis of the bill to revise the Constitution, drafted by a special parliamentary commission. The Court president, Augustin Zegrean, said the judges found that 25 of the articles and paragraphs in the bill are against the Constitution. According to Zegrean, the judges suggested that some of the articles in the bill should be dropped, and others changed or adjusted. The Court hopes that Parliament will take its recommendations into account, Zegrean also said, and added that once Parliament has endorsed the law the Constitutional Court will check the text again. The Court had until Monday to rule whether the bill was in compliance with the Constitution.
The Romanian foreign minister, Titus Corlăţean, will have a meeting in Bucharest on Monday with Montenegro’s deputy PM and minister for European integration, Igor Lukšić. According to the Romanian Foreign Ministry, the talks will focus on bilateral and regional cooperation. On this occasion the relevant Romanian and Montenegrin ministries will sign two agreements, concerning the fields of education and culture.
The best Romanian tennis player at present, Simona Halep, aged 22, Sunday won the final of the WTA tournament in Doha (Qatar), with 2.4 million US dollars in total prize money, against German Angelique Kerber. It was the 10th WTA final for Simona Halep, after she won 6 tournaments in 2013, and thanks to this victory she is now no. 9 WTA.
