The British monarch, 96, has died peacefully at Balmoral, Buckingham Palace has announced

Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022), a symbol of stability, after 70 years on the British throne, has died, peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon, Buckingham Palace announced on Thursday.
Elizabeth’s eldest son, Charles, 73, automatically becomes king of the United Kingdom and the head of state of 14 other realms.
The King and the Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow, Buckingham Palace also announces in a statement.
All the Queen’s children travelled to Balmoral, after doctors had placed Queen Elizabeth II under medical supervision.
