The communiqué also shows that Queen Anne’s funerals will be attended by Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Margareta of Romania, Prince Radu, Princess Elena, HE Sir Alexander Philips Nixon, Princess Sofia, Princess Maria, Sir Nicolae Medforth-Mills and Miss Elisabeta Maria Biarneix. The funerals will also be attended by members of various foreign Royal Houses. Their names will be announced on Thursday, August 11. The funerals of Queen Anne are scheduled for Saturday at the royal necropolis in Curtea de Argeş, in the south. Aged 94 and himself in poor health condition, King Michael I was at his wife’s side every day at the Swiss clinic where she died of cancer one week ago.
The National Bank of Romania forecasts an inflation rate of minus 0.4% for the end of this year, below the 0.6% estimate announced in May, shows the quarterly report on inflation presented on Monday by the central bank governor. The Permanent Electoral Authority of Romania announced that by August 8 they validated 5,481 requests for enrollment on the Electoral Register filed by Romanian citizens who have their domicile or residence outside Romania. The Electoral Authority has called on the Romanian citizens abroad to go to the Romanian diplomatic missions and consular offices in order to file the documents necessary for enrollment on the Electoral Register, opting either for vote by mail or for voting in a polling station near their homes. The “Anonimul” International Independent Film Festival started Monday in the village of Sfantu Gheorghe, in the Danube Delta, in the southeast. On Monday the Romanian athletes participated in judo, tennis, shooting, rowing, womens handball, table tennis, and swimming competitions at the 31st edition of the Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. Alin Moldoveanu and Corina Căprioriu are Romanias best hopes for medals on the 3rd day of the games, as they brought home medals four years ago. Moldoveanu was the surprise winner in London when he won in the 10 meter air rifle event, while Caprioriu went to the finals in the 57 kg category in judo. Eagerly expected is also the Romania- Brazil handball game, as well as the games that will be played by tennis players Monica Niculescu, Horia Tecău, and Florin Mergea. In gymnastics, Cătălina Ponor will compete in the final of the beam event, veteran Marian Dragulescu, 35 years of age, competes in the vault event finals, while Andrei Munteanu competes in the parallel bars finals.
