Warning. Romanian citizens who are in Lebanon must quickly leave the territory of that state, through the air flights still available. This is the firm recommendation made today by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bucharest, in the context of an increased risk of escalation of the Middle East tensions. The Ministry warns that people risk not being able to leave, as the situation in the region can easily worsen in an unpredictable manner, affecting the availability of commercial flights and travel routes among other things. At the same time, the MAE strongly recommends Romanians who are in Lebanon to register their presence at the Romanian Embassy in Beirut.

Saxons. The mayor of Sibiu (center), Astrid Fodor, member of the Democratic Forum of Germans in Romania (FDGR), urged the Saxons back home these days to help the Romanians in Germany to integrate more easily there. “They have integration difficulties similar, perhaps, to those you have faced. Be responsive to their needs and help them as much as you can” – said Mayor Fodor. She invited the ethnic Germans who left the country to return home, as, she said, “in today’s Romania we are talking about opportunities (…), here you can find a good place under the sun, you can make a living “. More than 10,000 Saxons from abroad have returned to Sibiu these days, to attend the international meeting of ethnic Germans, where the main guest is the president Klaus Iohannis, former national leader of the Forum and mayor of Sibiu. The International Meeting of the Saxons will end on Sunday evening, with a concert in the Big Square in Sibiu.

Child Protection.
Almost 5,300 cases of abuse, neglect and exploitation of children were registered in Romania in the first quarter of this year. The National Authority for the Protection of Children’s Rights and Adoption shows that the difference between rural and urban environments is of about 600 cases. Most of the cases were cases of neglect. Hundreds of cases of physical, emotional and sexual abuse, as well as labor exploitation, sexual exploitation and crimes have been recorded. Last year, the General Directorate of Social Assistance and Child Protection ordered the emergency placement for almost 800 children, and for 62 the emergency placement was ordered by the court.

Covaci.
The lifeless body of the Romanian artist Nicu Covaci will be laid at the Philharmonic in Timisoara (west, his hometown), at the beginning of next week – Mayor Dominic Fritz announced, on Saturday, in a post on the Internet. He specified that a photo exhibition dedicated to Nicu Covaci will be organized at the House of Culture in the municipality and a book of condolences will be available for longer to those who loved and admired him. The founder of the legendary rock group Phoenix died at the age of 77. Nicu Covaci was one of the most talented and influential musicians in the history of Romanian rock. After founding Phoenix and experiencing rapid success in Romania, he chose to flee to the West in 1976. He initially settled in the Netherlands, then in Germany. In 1990, after the fall of the communist dictatorship, he returned to Romania and resumed the concerts with Phoenix, but he was unable to release albums that could match the success of the 60s and 70s of the last century.

Black Sea.
The samples taken from the Romanian Black Sea coast, between the resorts of Năvodari (north) and Vama Veche (south), show that the water meets all safety and health criteria – said the head of the Constanta Public Health Directorate (southeast) , Cristina Schipor. Problems related to seawater quality had been reported in certain isolated areas on the Romanian coast, such as Corbu and Vadu, where the level of e-coli bacteria was high. The DSP Constanţa representative also said that the water analysis in Corbu and Vadu, localities located north of Mamaia, will be repeated in the coming days. According to estimates, around 130,000 tourists, Romanians and foreigners, are currently in resorts on the Black Sea coast. Accommodation units by the sea are almost at maximum capacity, on the busiest weekend so far of the summer season.
