Dear friends, RRI invites you to participate in a new prize-winning contest called “The International Radio Orchestras Festival, RadiRo, at its 2nd edition”. The contest is devoted to a unique musical event in Europe, which brings on the stage of the Radio Hall in Bucharest and live on public radio stations 5 famous orchestras and world-class conductors.
Between September 20th and 27th Bucharest will be hosting the 2nd edition of “The International Radio Orchestras Festival, RadiRo”, organized by Radio Romania, a friend and supporter of classical music ever since 1928, when it aired its first broadcast!
In 2012, the first edition of “RadiRo” brought to Romania prestigious radio symphony orchestras: the BBC Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI, and L’Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France.
In 2014 the 2nd edition of RadiRo will bring to Bucharest the Radio Symphony Orchestra of Finland, the Radio Symphony Orchestra of Prague, the Radio Symphony Orchestra of Stuttgart, L’Orchestre National de France and the National Radio Orchestra, under the baton of renowned conductors such as Joshua Weilerstein, Ondrej Lenárd, Stéphane Denève, Case Scaglione, Vassily Sinaisky, Tiberiu Soare and Cristian Mandeal.
The protagonists of the “RadiRo” evenings will be great soloists such as: pianist Jonathan Biss, soprano Katarina Jovanovic, pianist Jan Simon, violinists Nikolaj Znaider and Vadim Gluzman, alongside great Romanian artists: mezzo-soprano Ruxandra Donose, pianist Horia Mihail and violinist Alexandru Tomescu. The honorary director of this edition, the Romanian conductor Cristian Mandeal, will add prestige and European value to the “RadiRo” Festival.
We invite you to listen to RRI’s broadcasts, follow RRI’s website and Facebook, Twitter and Google+ profiles and give correct answers, in writing, to several questions until September 26th 2014, the post date, when the contest comes to an end.
The prizes and honorable mentions of the contest will be CDs with Romanian and foreign symphony music as well as other promotional material. The contest is organized together with the “Casa Radio” Publishers and the Bucharest City Hall.
And now here are the questions:
– What was the year when the 1st edition of RadiRo was held?
– Who is the honorary director of the 2nd edition of this festival?
– How many radio orchestras will be participating in the 2014 edition of RadiRo?
– Name 3 Romanian artists (soloists or conductors) who will participate in the 2014 edition of RadiRo.
Please also tell us what made you participate in the contest and especially why you listen to RRI’s broadcasts and follow us online.
