Romania has won three medals in the seniors’ competition as part of the Shooting Sport European Championships held in Croatia’s Osijek. The first two medals were won this past Monday. The first medal, a bronze one, was won in the women’s version of the Championships’ teams’ competition, the 10-meter air rifle event.
Romania’s line-up, made of Laura Ilie, Roxana Sidi and Adriana-Roberta Teodorescu, obtained 1, 884. 4 points. Stepping onto the first step of the podium was Norway, with 1, 896. 9 points, while the runner-up team was the Hungarian one, with 1.885,6 points. Romanian delegation’s second medal was a gold one: it was won by Laura Ilie, in the final of the 10-meter air rifle event.
Laura obtained 252.3 points. Silver went to Swiss sport shooter Audrey Gogniat, who got 250.9 points, while Serbian sport shooter Aleksandra Havran won bronze, with 229.4 points, On Tuesday, Luca Joldea won bronze in the individual 10-meter air pistol event. In the 3rd-place final, Joldea outclassed Turkey’s Mustafa Inan, 15-14. Russia’s Anton Aristarhov won gold, securing a 15-12 win in the final against Turkish challenger Yusuf Dikec.

Laura-Georgeta Ilie, nee Coman, was born in Bucharest on April 30, 1993. She has been a sport shooter since 2010 and a competitor since 2012. Laura Ilie’s best results occurred in the 10-meter air rifle event. Laura Ilie is signed up by Dinamo Bucharest Sports Club. Her head-coach is Dana Cohanciuc.
Laura’s first great success occurred in 2017 when she walked away with the gold medal at the World Cup in Munich. In 2019 in Osijek, Croatia, Laura won her first European champion title. Also in 2019 Laura Ilie won gold at the European Games held in Belarus’ Minsk. At the European Championships, Laura won gold in Poland’s Wroclaw, in 2020. At the 2021 edition of the Olympic Games held in Japan’s Tokyo, Laura Georgeta Ilie came in 9th.
